Figure Skating Olympian named Ambassador of Pride House at Paris 2024
In celebration of Pride Day, the International Skating Union (ISU) is proud to support Javier Raya (ESP), former international Figure Skater, Olympian and IOC Young Leader, nominated as an Ambassador of Paris 2024 Pride House at the Summer Olympic Games. As part of its ongoing commitment to promote diversity, equity and inclusion across all ice-skating sports, the ISU demonstrates its continued support to the LGBTIQ+ community initiatives within the sporting movement.
Founder of the “Compete Proud” platform, a digital space offering consultancy, webinars and educational content highlighting the LGBTIQ+ community, Javier Raya will be accompanied on-site by his team Nikki Symmons and Matthew Mitcham, to conduct various awareness and engagement activities with other athletes and ambassadors. By uniting the Compete Proud and Pride House initiatives, Javier and his team will play a significant role elevating the conversation around inclusivity in sports, on and off the field. Another major Ambassador representing Pride House is Beijing 2022 French Olympic Ice Dance Champion Guillaume Cizeron, who brings his own commitment and visibility to the initiative.
Pride House is supported by the Paris 2024 Organizing Committee and the International Olympic Committee (IOC), along with various other sports organizations. The ISU is proud to join this movement as an International Sport Federation, actively supporting the LGBTIQ+ community.
By embracing and promoting such initiatives, the ISU continues to foster a more inclusive and supportive environment for all athletes, celebrating diversity and the spirit of unity that defines the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
